Support for girl child education
The initiator Clare Ebenyo. lady who is principled and educated from marginalized areas or ASAL areas in turkana county.I have a degree in education Arts.I have masters in educational planning management and administration. To make my leadership skills sound strong and gain more experience,I had to do strategic leadership and development and also senior management at Kenya school of government in baringo campus, kenya.Furthermore ,I chose also to do diploma in disaster management because I am coming from a community faced by calamities. My project title was based on girl child education emphasizing on factors affecting girl child educational especially in public schools.I chose the topic because most girls face a lot when it comes to issues pertaining education like being denied access to education, early marriages, family size, poverty , preferring boy child than girls, negative attitude on a girl child ,the society negative take on girls and lack of parental support on girl child.in addition, barbaric cultural practices that girls go through in the society .The initiative therefore focuses on supporting the girl child in the society. As you know ,a home without a daughter is like a source without a river and with education, you can reach the stars. The initiative therefore is to ensure girl child in marginalized areas has access to education. The girl child will be encouraged or supported by ensuring mentorship programs are provided.Guiding and counselling takes place for those affected.Support of basic needs to the needy girls like books, pens, uniforms, school bags and other important necessities .For those performing well and needy scholarship can be offered.Provision of sanitary towels which is a challenge to most of them.Be educated on importance of girl child education .Be informed of cultural practices that might affect their education like early marriages and forced marriage at young age .
Through it we can get support from different stakeholders that support girl child education including women groups forums that support education for our girls, ministry of education, county government,NGOs, various foundations,Africa women leaders , and others that support girl child education.
