On 23rd April 2025 , Haki Nawiri Afrika in collaboration with Africa Consumer Watch and Friendly Integrated Development Initiative for Poverty Alleviation co-organised a community dialogue focusing on women land rights. The session took place at Muvuti Social Hall in Machakos County -Eastern Kenya. The forum brought together 140 participants( 136 females:3 males).The convening discussed challenges facing women when it comes to land rights which included title deeds being in the name of deceased family members ( mostly males) , forced evictions , being subjected to violence , being forced to give up land , boundary related conflicts and sale of land titled to multiple people.
The initiative seeks to undertake similar forums in other parts of Kenya .These include Kisumu, Siaya , Kakamega ( western Kenya ) and Elgeiyo Marakwet - an Indigenous Peoples territory. The initiative will work with advocates and community paralegals at the level to ensure access to justice and to unpack the law for community members.
