"Even nature is cyclic, and so is a woman's body. Yet, for too long, the emotional and mental toll of these hormonal shifts has been treated as a footnote in our health story. Our mission, championed by HealCycle's visionary founder, Ananya Grover, is to put it at the center, empowering every woman with the knowledge and support she deserves."
As a psychiatrist and a Medical Advisor for HealCycle, this mission resonates deeply with my personal and professional experiences. Every day, I witness the silent struggles of women grappling with hormonal and mental health challenges, often feeling unheard and misunderstood.
The statistics from India paint a stark picture of the disconnect in women's healthcare. While a systematic review estimates the pooled prevalence of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) at a significant 8%, a concerning study revealed that 85.6% of women experiencing moderate to severe symptoms did not even perceive their condition as abnormal. Consequently, only a small fraction ever seek the medical help they desperately need. This reality underscores that the journey to diagnosis isn't just prolonged; for countless women, it never even begins. Millions are silently enduring, their very real suffering often dismissed with the disheartening words, "it's just a part of being a woman."
This is precisely why the work we are doing at HealCycle is so vital and fills me with such passion. We are not simply developing another health application. Instead, we are meticulously building a clinically-informed, AI-powered companion named Tara. This innovative tool provides a safe and confidential space for women to diligently track their unique symptoms, gain a deeper, personalized understanding of their cyclical health patterns, and ultimately feel empowered to proactively seek professional care when needed.
At HealCycle, we firmly believe that prioritizing women's hormonal and mental well-being is not just a matter of individual health; it's a fundamental aspect of global progress. Our work is intrinsically aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically:
* SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being: By actively promoting mental health and overall well-being, and by strengthening the critical prevention and effective treatment of non-communicable diseases.
* SDG 5: Gender Equality: By diligently working to close the persistent gender health gap and ensuring that all women have equitable access to high-quality healthcare services and crucial health-related information.
To further advance our understanding and impact, we are currently conducting a vital pilot study in close partnership with @AthenaDAO. This research is crucial in helping us refine our approach and better serve the needs of women. If you, or someone you know, experiences these challenging symptoms, I sincerely encourage you to explore the possibility of participating in this important endeavor. Your valuable involvement can contribute significantly to building a more equitable and supportive future for women's healthcare, not just in India, but globally.

Let's break the silence and work together to ensure that every woman's health story is heard, understood, and supported.
