Courage is leaving home to build a better future for those you love

She left home before dawn, carrying only a small bag and a heart full of hope. At 17, she kissed her little siblings goodbye, her mother’s hands trembling as she pressed a few coins into hers. She was leaving everything familiar, her friends, her school, the village where every tree held a memory, to cross borders in search of work.

She became invisible in the city that was not hers. She worked long hours in houses that were not hers, cooking, cleaning, and caring for children whose names she struggled to remember. Nights were the hardest, when exhaustion and loneliness wrapped around her like a heavy cloak. She missed birthdays, celebrations, and even simple walks home.

Yet, in the quiet of her room, she allowed herself to dream. Each day she sent money back home, knowing that her sacrifice meant her siblings could go to school, her mother could breathe a little easier, and her family could inch closer to stability.

She carried strength no one could see, courage forged from love, resilience built from hardship. Though she was far from home, her heart remained tethered to the family she was determined to lift.

Her journey was not easy, and it was not recognized by law or society. But in her family’s eyes, she was nothing short of a hero.
