Supporting girls and women from informal settlements and rural areas to thrive
The world today has become a small global village - one is able to connect across the continents at the press of a button. What with different applications and platforms being created and customised to suit the needs of every age-group; Our children similarly have not been left out online platforms such as You-tube safely provide age specific programs to cater for the needs of children below the age of 18.
Technology Backed Gender violelce has become the new norm where simple items such as phones are used for devices for child trafficking and child pornography. Statistics by the African Union in a report estimating that 40% of youth aged between 15 - 24 have access to the internet.
The integral question however and which pertinent is are their guideliness on how they are utilise the internet. What are the do's and dont's that they need to continually look out for; particularly for the young girls. It is against this backdrop that I have partnered with Avni Agrawall a World Pulse to complete a manual on Online Digital Safety for young Women and Girls which is in its preliminary phase. Avni is an accomplished author of several legal articles and books and our collaboration having a legal background myself will simplify the manual to help girls not only undertstand their place in their internet, do's and donts but also provide simplified physical copies for them to understand their sexuality.
The program is in a County, Kenya catering to 135 young girls and women who have been victims of both physical and technology backed gender based violence.
With your support the girls will be able to heal psychologically and have both digitical and physical manuals they can easily refer to in the face of every form of violence.
Joins us in supporting us in every kind of way to ensure that our fellow girls and women are not just safe but informed and appraised of current developments for the betterment of a better society.
