Her Vision For the Future

International day of the girl child 2024 is themed "Girls Vision for the Future", it is important that we prioritize the visions and aspirations of girls. They are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the change-makers of today. It is our responsibility, as a society, to listen to their voices, amplify their concerns, and support their dreams. In this future that we are talking about, girls wants a world where they can walk freely, without fear of harassment or judgment. A world where their bodies are their own, and their choices are respected, a society that values their intellect, creativity, and resilience, and provides them with opportunities that supports them to succeed.

Having highlighted the above, the mistake we make always is thinking and concluding on what we feel or think girls want for their future, we have to pause and listen to them as they share what they want their future to look like while we serve as allies to making their dreams come to life. As allies, we must not decide for them but mentor and guide them, providing them with role models and networks and celebrate their achievements, no matter how small they may be.

Her vision is a call to action, it requires collective responsibility and commitment. We must always remember that empowering girls is not  about benefiting girls alone but enriching humanity. It is our collective responsibility to create a future where girls can succeed and humanity can flourish.
