I haven’t started yet
And i will.
And when I do, I want every girl who feels like she’s drowning in silence to know that her voice matters.
As a young Nigerian student from a polygamous family, who is also currently still in her first year, I’ve had to learn how to survive on my own.
I’ve watched my dreams shrink and expand, depending on how much strength I could muster each day.
In that space of loneliness and quiet hustle, I began to realise something: there are so many girls like me, carrying their lives in silence, unheard, unseen, and slowly fading under the weight of their untold stories.
That’s why I created HerStoryTeller.
It’s more than just a platform. It’s a movement that seeks to amplify the voices of girls who, like me, are doing life mostly alone, school, family expectations, societal pressure, and their personal dreams. These are girls who may never get a microphone or a spotlight, but whose stories can shift mindsets and spark healing.
I envision an initiative that starts with something as simple as listening. A story shared on Instagram. A voice note posted on WhatsApp. A blog entry that says, “This is how I’m surviving, and maybe you can too.”
And over time, I see it growing into something bigger, a community where young women learn that vulnerability isn’t weakness, that strength isn’t always loud, and that they are not alone.
I hope to start small, thus,
Reaching at least 100 girls in the first year.
Hosting virtual safe spaces where we speak, write, and grow.
Training a few girls to become story champions in their communities.
Eventually, I’d love to collaborate with schools, local organisations, and even brands that align with our mission. But for now, I’m a girl with an idea, a phone, and a heart that’s ready to start something bold.
Because even if I haven’t begun yet, I believe that every story I help bring to light can be the beginning of someone else's freedom.
This is HerStoryTeller.
And this is just the beginning.
