How I started the project "Gift a Sanitary Pad"

In 2017 , I was fortunate to be part of the Young African Leaders Initiative program, we were then ask to do a community project or an internship upon completion, so I opted for a community project and then the thought of educating your girls on menstrual hygiene education and gifting a pad came to mind. Because when I started my menstruation at age 12, without prior knowledge of what it is, my mom gave me rags to use as pads and all she said was "you are matured now, stop playing with boys" I only assumed always was used as pads during menstruation and that was how I used my feeding fee to get one for myself and the rest they say is history 😄 I couldn't just used the rags because I always get stained.

So I thought of educating young girls about menstruation to get them informed and gift them a pad at the end of discussion. And this has been going on for 8 years now.. And now we have introduced making of reusable pads.
