I am making a difference

Growing up in a community grappling with poverty high levels, disease burden, illiteracy, early marriages and orphaned children has been a challenge which has helped me strive to become a better person and make a difference in my society by pursuing a career that would help make a difference.

Having still continued to live around the same community for over three decades now, I can boost of my achievements as having pursued a career in Journalism and becoming a professional entrusted with responsibility such as managing other people in my area of expertise.

I use my work to educate inform and entertain people within my community with my work in the print, electronic and online media to impart knowledge through issues focusing on health, education and development, but it has had very little impact on my community because it is being done by ME.

I have been considered as one of their own people who according to them is just as good as them and cannot contribute in bring change in their lives even though I have attained a higher level of education and live an exemplary life which I always strive to encourage others especially young girls in my community to emulate.

I have resolved that I will continue with my work as a journalist to disseminate information that is important in helping to change the community I live in for the better and I also use my influence to ensure that community development programme are spearheaded to improve their lives.

I know that one day they shall recognize the effort and appreciate that I have helped in making a positive change in my community and lead better lives.

Most of the community member have access and afford to use interactive media such as the internet , and I have taken the opportunity to be part of Pulse Wire where issues can be brought out and can be appreciated by other people and in so doing I hope they will learn to accept that I am not only doing my work to bring change only in my community but the world as a whole.
