I learned to speak at 29

Seeking
Connections

Dear sisters,
I want to share something tender, and raw, and strong.
I didn’t truly learn to speak until I was 29.
Not because I didn’t know how.
But because, like many of us, I was taught to be “nice.”
To be good.
To be quiet when things felt unfair.
To be polite when I felt pain.
To be sweet, not true.
As a child, I was told not to say things that made others uncomfortable —
even when I was just describing what I saw.
A fat man. A big dog. A dirty car.
I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone. I was just naming the world.
But the world doesn’t like children who speak clearly.
So I learned to smile instead of speak.
To stay small. To silence my questions.
It took me 29 years to find my voice again.
To speak — kindly, but fully.
Without pretending. Without making myself smaller.
Now I’m building a place where children don’t have to wait that long.
It’s called Earth Angels — a nature-led kindergarten in the UK.
A place where children speak from the very beginning.
Where they’re not shamed for honesty.
Where they learn to say:
“That feels wrong.”
“I need help.”
“No.”
We don’t raise obedient children.
We raise children who think, feel, and speak —
with strength, with kindness, and with dignity.
This isn’t just about early education.
It’s about changing the way we raise the future.
If this resonates with you — I would love to hear from you.
Maybe you’re one of us — a builder of a new culture.
One child at a time.
With love,
Nazokat
