I Slapped Her, He Slapped Her

I slapped her and He Slapped her. These are the words or sentences I have heard in casual conversation of two different individuals and the reasons for those slaps is far more absurd than you can imagine. We are living in the 21st century, we are as advanced as one can be especially in terms of technology as with the reference of Humanity I believe we are even more primitive than the stone age folks. The Patriarchy still exists in the roots of the majority of the rural areas and it just does not exist it roars, slaps and even at times kills too. Honour killing, domestic violence and you name the violence and you would find it there. Now I am not generalising, I am stating what I heard. let me take you through this, a man narrating a woman about how he found out that her sister's daughter had a phone number saved of one of the boys he knows. he interrogated her and she said my nani(Grandmother) knows everything and you can ask her. And He Slapped Crime: She spoke. She tried to defend herself. This is how casually they speak about violence and the reason behind them are even more harder to accept. On Another Occasion, a girl told me that a man she is related to was fighting with his wife and she as a joke was biting his hand and then he slapped because it hurt him. These are some of the few instances of someone's worst nightmare. Another instance is the girl who used to live nearby and she was projected as being rebellious and ill mannered ( I still don't know what she did to be tagged that) and then not just her mother would beat her often but her male cousins would come to beat her teach her some manners. Though they need to be whip lashed by Police itself. These are the instances of merely physical violence. you know what was her end? she died few days before her marriage without some serious illness and some say that she was hit on some part of her brain and could not gain consciousness after that. All the cousins who used to beat her and her mother are living as normal as possibly one could. There are no records and no evidences of cases like that , what a fate some people have....or it's the people around them who are dead and then the fate offer instances like that. Change maybe we need that but how to bring that where to start when everything is painted in black and people have lost the torch. Don't even get me started on the harassment, Sexual Assault and Rape cases. A house nearby was robbed and their youngest daughter was rapped. Not just that even the dead are not left to be in peace. A girl's grave was dug and her dead body was raped.....DEAD BODY... But in majority of the cases you are to be sushed as the Police coming to a house will bring the shame to your house though in the Last two cases Police could not Just ignore it and they had to take action. But did that stopped anything or improved the situation over all, the people in the village got their own CCTV Cameras to protect themselves though that is the duty of the state and the fundamental right of citizen to be secure and safe from such cruelties and brutality. But When The Politicians are busy in filling their pockets and projecting themselves as saints and ignoring the basic needs someone will have to pay the price of such blatant negligence and that will be the citizens themselves.
