I stopped eating banana because I didn't want to turn to a monkey.😭

It was an image of me. I generated it myself.

An image of me.

Funny right? That was what I believed when I was younger.

I had a friend in primary school.

We did almost everything together.

Went almost everywhere together.

To the extent that when she wanted to pee, I'd follow her there, then stand by the door and wait for her to finish. 🤣🤣

Then one day, I brought a banana to school.

She shouted, "Do you eat banana?"

Innocent me was still confused, and I replied, "Yes."

Then, without warning, she snatched it away from my hands. "Don't you know that if you eat banana too much, you'll turn to monkey?"

A part of me believed her, but the other wasn't ready to let go yet.

"Why would it happen?" I asked.

"Monkey food is banana. Even my younger brother calls it monkey banana. And if you eat their food too much, you'll turn to them."

At that moment, I went silent. I didn't want to let my banana go, but I just had to.

Ewo! Innocent me didn't want to turn to a monkey.🤣

So, I stopped eating banana.

Until much later, when I realised the truth.

By then, the girl who made me believe this was gone.

We graduated and went to different secondary schools.

However, this experience taught me two powerful things:

1️⃣ Most times what we believe isn't true. Yes, it's not true.

(I mean, how is it possible to even turn to a monkey just because you eat banana?🤦)

2️⃣ False beliefs can make us run away from the things that are good for us.

My friend told me I'd turn into a monkey if I ate banana, and I believed her. So I ran from it.

And that's exactly what's happening to many of us today.

The enemy feeds us lies, and before we know it, we start to believe them.

Now, the thing is: They lied to you.

You are who God says you are.

Now, I'm asking you:

Which belief is making you shrink?

What's that belief you've been holding onto for too long?

Maybe it's time to unlearn it.

To finally let it go, and embrace your freedom.

To finally drop the lies and pick up the truth, because sincerely I'm not ashamed to say it again:

"You are who God says you are."

So tell me, which lie are you ready to unlearn?

Which belief are you ready to let go?

PS: I'll be reading all comments, and I'll love to see you join the conversation too.
