I WAITED FOR SO LONG…..

I WAITED FOR SO LONG…..

I waited for a year or so, to hug and kiss you.

And can sense the cool, morning breeze, despite being far off.

The same breeze entering my nostrils and refreshing my soul.

Wrap my whole body with its gentle touch.

The smell of juicy apple,  redness of spring cherries.

Mesmerizing aura of Almonds, spring blossom of its lilac flowers.

Weak sunshine of April, unpredictable rains of June & July.

Its hearty people and unique customs.

Delicate shawls and silk scarves.

Unique Eid dishes and diverse costumes.

Now the wait is over as my Kashmir is the biggest prison.

That land of mine, pure as water, pious as a goddess.

That land of saints, serene as the moon, charming as a paradise.

Alas is now bruised, maimed and drenched in blood.

Its women raped, youth traumatized and children petrified.

50 days of siege, yet the world is unmoved, occupied in awards.

50 days of hunger, fed with bullets, pellets and threats.

By fascists and its cohorts on the behest of the World powers.

With a stone, we fight, they fire us bullets labelled ‘Made in America’.

World confers them awards, sign arms deals and invite them to dinner

When the masses are starving, elders are sick and infants need meds.

The world is engaged in inviting murderers, feeding the pasta and pizza.

Then uproar of the people shakes the United Nations to take action.

On the genocide of blockaded and trapped people of Kashmir.

Alas! In the UN, tables are thumped, voices raised & listened.

Like a gossip shop, they come, talk, listen and then leave.

Dine and wine over the plight of contested land here and there, everywhere.

The next day, I have been mourned over the criminal silence of this selfish world.

Now my wait is over, my trust is gone.

Neither the UN or the US consider this until they get bruised as we are.
