I won't be silenced ...by myself!

I was listening to Disney songs of all things when working today. 'I won't be silenced' from Aladdin came on and made me think of World Pulse and all the amazing people on here who truly won't be silenced. This song is powerful for me and is something I need to listen to when I'm feeling depressed, oppressed or generally powerless.

I get in my own way A LOT! My own fears, depression, anxiety etc. my own brain and emotions, they spiral and make me feel like something bad will happen if I keep trying to get to where I wish to be, like I can't live how I want because others (neighbours, others in my village, work colleagues, parents) wont' like it because it is not the 'popular western society way' and try to make me conform to their way, possibly via legal challenge.

This is happening today for me, the spiralling into fear. The song made me sit up and think of coming on here tonight, to get inspired, to get out of my head and into a more centre place, a place where I can not let petty people get in my head and set me off on a worry path. I know I am my own worst enemy at times, my own blocker and one who silences me, silences my dreams and beliefs and stuffs them down in a deep recess of my being.

So I'm writing this partially to tell my brain to GET OUT OF MY WAY and to remind myself that my dreams and beliefs should NOT BE SILENCED especially by myself!

I'm also writing this to show that mental health can be a constant battle no matter where you live and that the fear of things going 'too well, something must be about to go wrong' is always there. But sometimes its the most random things that help. so go listen to that song that gives you the boost you need to remember what's important.

The image of the my Hermann's tortoise Splitz who is the complete opposite of me and very determined and never 'silenced' by anyone or anything - if he wants something nothing stands in his way!
