If Peace had a Voice

Sorry i’m not sorry we traded glory for shame

Sorry I’m not sorry for being addicted to pain

Sorry I’m not sorry to be lost in the moment

frozen moment where words are too heavy for an expression

In a moment where we crash down with no precaution

Blood for the blood for the war no emotions

Piece by piece till all left are ashes  on our streets

It was you it was me it was us it was soldier it was war it was more power less for the poor

It was why border they’re not part of us

It was blood on every corner

Blood of innocent daughters

It was pain flowing like a river

It was war knowing no borders

Yet war bordering no others

It was war for no reason

Fire for the victims

Victims for the soldiers

Soldiers for the leaders

Leaders just for power

Power pull the trigger

It was a minute of click likes and hashtags

Then a lifetime of families all turn apart

It was carrying wounds bleeding with no healing

It was prayers lifted to dark ceilings

It was politics, ministry of education for a nation where half it’s population are drawn back to dark ages

School turn to ashes, war own the pages

It was guns fired at babies

Reconciliation a business treaty

They laughed at the way we cry

Making more money from the lies published on tv

It was you it was me it was us it was soldiers it was war it was more power less for the poor

It was mother’s drowning in a moment

Moments cursing and trampling 9months of endurance beauty and love

Moments of sons turning to monsters.

This  poetry is not enough to walk you through this genocide of punchlines

Where my nation more than trapped in a pandemic die in persistent conflict

Drop the weapons and live as one family.

Sorry I’m not  sorry we traded glory for shame

Sorry am not sorry for been addicted to pain

That moment liberty freedom was traded for politics

That moment my poetry bought a potion from your notion call it freedom of expression!

So yes! it was you it was us it was soldiers it was war it was more power and less for the poor
