Importance of educating the girl child

My inspiration and motivation for greatness was spiked in my childhood days from as early as my primary school education as we call it in my homeland here in Nigeria. You see, coming from a traditional Igbo setting, the male child has always had more value and counted as a ‘more child’ than female children.Fortunately, My Mother is blessed with 5 girls and a boy. We the girls were considered as non-children hence the constant jeering, gossips and bickering from our extended family, friends and relatives. I have on several occasions seen my Mother cry and ask God for male children but that never came forth. Then at that tender age, I stood my ground and decided to take up the challenge and be that girl, that lady that everyone would be proud of. I said to myself severally, motivating myself positively saying “Anything or achievement or difference a man can make , I would achieve it also”. My competition in life has always been with the male folks. I believe I can achieve everything that a daring man can. That was how my story of greatness started.

I eventually got admission to a prestigious secondary school reserved for merit award winners. A time came when an uncle of mine visited and he asked my brother “ why is it that your sister is attending such a prestigious school and you aren’t?” You know, my parents had to ensure he wrote he coming exams so as to exonerate themselves from not giving him the same opportunity too. I later went to the prestigious university of Lagos to earn a masters degree and I also hold a professional degree with the Accounting body of my country.Today,  I sit at top 2 thriving business establishments and my female siblings and I are doing very well. By our achievements, in our Kindred, we have been able to revolutionize what every one had said about female children not being useful to the family and only good for marriage or Kitchen affairs. By Educating the girl child, you educate a Nation. it has been seen that no child is a waste, God has created us equally and planted the seed of greatness in both male and female children.

THE EDUCATION OF THE FEMALE CHILD IS IMPORTANT TOO.
