Inclusive Education and Technology

In 2023, I founded Motherly Heart Organisation that is dedicated to fostering equity and equality in education and gender. Our vision is to create a society where every girl and child thrives through Education.

Our programs reach over 200 adolescent girls and vulnerable children annually, focusing on improving literacy through engaging story-based and play-based learning methods. We operate mobile libraries to enhance reading and comprehension skills. Furthermore, we actively combat early child marriage by:

Raising awareness about sexual and reproductive health rights.

Addressing menstrual health concerns.

Providing educational sponsorships for girls.

However, the rapid advancement of technology presents a significant challenge for the children and adolescent girls we serve, particularly in rural Busia, Uganda. Limited access to computers, tablets, and smartphones due to socio-economic constraints severely hinders their digital literacy development. This exclusion impacts not only the children but also their teachers, limiting their ability to effectively integrate technology into the learning process.

To address this critical gap, Motherly Heart Organization aims to establish a Digital Literacy Hub in the Busia community. This hub will serve as a vital resource for:

Teachers: To enhance their pedagogical skills through computer literacy training and access to educational resources.

Vulnerable Children & Adolescent Girls: To bridge the digital divide and provide them with opportunities for online learning, research, and skill development.

We plan to collaborate with organizations offering free educational apps to further enhance the learning experience for vulnerable children.

The hub will provide access to computers, internet connectivity, and digital literacy training programs, empowering girls from rural areas with the necessary skills to succeed in an increasingly digital world.

I believe that education is a fundamental human right and that every child deserves access to quality education, including the benefits of digital literacy.
