International Day of the Girl Child 2024: Girls’ Vision for the Future



Girls Education Mission International (GEM) celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child 2024 on October 11th at the GEM International Hub under the theme “Girls’ Vision for the Future.” The event brought together over 60 girls from 25 schools, educators, and key stakeholders, including Plateau State Universal Basic Education representatives, to inspire girls to envision and pursue their dreams.

Highlights included a keynote by Keturah Shammah, panel discussions led by GEM founding girls, a vision board activity, free sanitary pad distribution, My Vision Board and Essay. Cultural performances, games, and a symbolic cake-cutting added to the celebration.

The event concluded with media engagement on City Radio FM, amplifying the theme and outcomes. Participants reported feeling empowered and motivated, and the event's impact was praised for its inclusivity and actionable support. GEM reaffirmed its commitment to advancing girls' education and advocacy, with plans to expand the initiative to more communities.
