Introducing myself and my journal: Act IV

About Me:
I am a wordsmith, a bead jewelry artisan, a Certified Empowerment Life Coach, the mother of one adult daughter (whom I raised alone from the age of three), grandmother of two girls and the wife of a wonderful and patient man (my second husband), who is a strong feminist and gives me unconditional support in my quest to return to my activist roots. When I was a young mother in the 1960’s in New York City, I was heavily involved in the American civil rights, anti-war and feminist movements. Then I became distractedly busy raising my daughter, surviving, and (just when my daughter was almost out of the nest), caring for my aged parents. I feel I have come full circle, because my daughter has become a strong feminist leader and has introduced me to new opportunities for helping women find their voices.
For most of my life I have earned my living as a writer and an editor--with excursions into teaching SCUBA diving and managing children’s recreational programs. Over the past 25 years I have owned and managed my own business in Tampa, Florida, writing resumes and coaching job seekers. Early in my career I was a news and feature writer working for Science World, a weekly science education magazine in New York City, at a time when few women were either scientists or journalists.
