Introducing myself and my journal: "Another Journal Entry"
Apr 28, 2022
story
When I was young, I wanted to be different things at different ages: A Singer, An Actress, A Computer Engineer, A WRITER, A Journalist, and a whole lot that I cannot remember. At age 16, everything that I wanted to be changed, I simply wanted to survive.
My Dad died when I was 16 and my Mum joined when I was 19. At that time, I didn’t want to become anything anymore. There was no use for it actually, or so I thought. A lot happened in between and I really would not want to bore you with it.
I never knew I would start up an NGO, because I didn’t even understand what an NGO is. From talking with girls about life, boys, and career, I stumbled on some needs in public schools; Most of the girls do not know the first thing about menstrual hygiene, Children needed basic school supplies to stay in school and that is what resulted to Beyond the Classroom Foundation today.
Sometimes, when people ask me what I want to do with my life after graduating from the University, I smile. I smile because; 6 years ago I didn’t think I could ever go back to school. I have learnt so much, and I now believe that everything is possible to those who believe. I now know exactly what I want to do. Which is, to continue to inspire young people to take charge of their lives and make a positive impact in their communities.
I wake up everyday ready to face the world, ready to put a smile on the face of someone on the street, or someone living life like it means nothing to him or her.
Now, I can share my story with every young person that I meet. It might look like life is not fair but when you begin to put others before yourself, then you would see that you need to be happy to make someone happy.
I am excited about my Journal because I would have a reason to continue writing.
