Introducing myself and my journal: Brooklyn Aspect

About Me:
As an environmental journalist, I am always looking for new ways to successfully communicate the serious issues of today to more and more people. Climate change, environmental destruction, war, overpopulation and pollution are wreaking havoc on the planet. If we want to exist in and pass on a livable world, we need to start communicating the severity of these issues clearly to the public.

I live in Brooklyn, but I'm new here. I've been living in Seattle for the past seven years, but am now here in New York to learn more about Media Studies at The New School. I'm interested to investigate the world around me, talk to neighbors about the city and get involved with local activists working for social and environmental change. Brooklyn is New York City's most populous borough. While exploring, I see evidence that my numerous neighborhoods are ready for social change, if not already involved in creating it themselves.

Brooklyn's motto is In Unity There is Strength. I'll be using that as part of my journal title because I believe it to be true, and I think it will eventually help describe the type of entries I will write.

My Passions:
Writing, reading, making the world a peaceful and livable place for all, yoga, running, philosophy

My Challenges:
Never enough time for everything, living is expensive in NYC

My Vision for the Future:
Equality for all, dense and livable communities

My Areas of Expertise:
Environmental issues, networking, communications
