Introducing myself and my journal: Picking Up the Pieces of My Voice

About Me:
I was raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, US until I was 17 when I studied abroad and learned the powers of learning a second language. After I returned from France I moved to Portland, Oregon, US where I am now studying French and Women's Studies. My current interests deal with figuring out, as a privileged white male, how to best serve those who are oppressed by systems of patriarchy, capitalism, and supremacy as an ally. The main aspects of my life that halter such exploration is the committment of time (i.e. balancing work, school, etc.).

When I did not work and had time to volunteer, I worked with Hospice, international exchange programs, feeding the homeless, community building events, and taking drunk drivers off the streets by providing safer options to travel. I am most interested in dealing with internalized racism within oppressed groups and how that effects communities as a whole.

My Passions:
Running, acting, yoga, gardening, music, spoken-word poetry.

My Challenges:
Identifying the ways I have been effected by white, supremacist, capitalist, patriarchy culture and how it has hindered my way of identifying with people around me and the world as a whole.

My Areas of Expertise:
Bilingual (English, French).
