Introducing myself and my journal: Sport for Development



About Me:
Currently heading Partnership and Policy portfolio for schools in India and in the UK for the British Council-the cultural relations organisation of the UK Government. For past four years lead on the Education through Sport portfolio for the British Council in India along with the responsibility of designing and developing resources for effective transaction of physical education school curriculum through capacity development of teachers.



Starting with a travel career in Thomas Cook, Mona later in her entrepreneurial capacity set up her own interior design studio. She was later picked up by Dorling Kindersley a UK based multi marketing organisation of education products to set up their office in India.



Experience in the British Council Council includes identification and development of strategic partnerships between India and UK at the Higher Education level and establishing school to school partnerships for nurturing committed global citizens by facilitating learning of each other cultures and best practices. Have successfully facilitated Bilateral programmes between the Governments of both the countries involving strategic joint academic projects in Higher Education and schools and collaborations between small and medium scale enterprises.



In her capacity of Head-Education through Sport , she has lead on International Inspiration, the Education legacy programme for Olympics 2012, working with Government of India key ministries, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport and the Ministry of Human Resource Development with partners UNICEF, UK Sport to raise the profile of school sport .



She lead on the conceptualising, design and development of a programme called PEC (Physical Education Cards) focusing on streamline the teaching of Physical Education and Sport in schools. The programme has been piloted and taken up by the Government of India to roll it out across millions of schools in India through teacher training at the school and higher education level.



Expertise is in strategic engagement with policy and change makers for scaling up and sustaining education reform initiatives.



A MBA, in her spare time Mona is an avid traveller and likes to explore new places, work for community development initiatives and plays the guitar.
