Introducing myself and my journal: W-echoing change

About Me:
I’m a human rights journalist in action. I have worked on various projects with organizations like WITNESS, Journalists for Human Rights and Alternatives. I have also previously worked in Cairo, Egypt with Al-Shehab, a small, local NGO working in one of Cairo’s largest slums. I co-directed a short documentary on the lack of access to safe and sanitary drinking water.

I have also been part of an exchange group of Canadian, Beninese and Senegalese youth journalists through a Journalist for Human Rights/Canada World Youth program. Through this program, I reported on human rights issues for local media organizations in Quebec and Bénin. I like to examine the relationship between media and human rights from a cross-cultural perspective. I am originally from Montreal, where I studied journalism at Concordia University.
Currently, I work for an international NGO called Farm Radio International. I work on the production of a weekly news service for and with broadcasters in rural sub-Saharan Africa called Farm Radio Weekly (FRW) (http://weekly.farmradio.org)

On a weekly basis, I research, write, edit and do translation for FRW. Farm Radio Weekly is a news and information service produced by Farm Radio International for and with African broadcasters on agricultural and food security issues.

I have also co-produced and edited three podcasts on the subject of Women and the environment as well as Women and conflict. I conducted interviews in Belem, Brazil during the World Social Forum.
Of the three pieces, I'm particularly proud of the piece on Women and conflict. I interviewed an amazing women’s rights activist from the Democratic Republic of the Congo who told the story of women being used as an instrument of war in the South Kivu area: http://parolecitoyenne.org/un-appel-a-l-aide-des-femmes-congolaises

My Passions:
sounds of life, sharing stories, languages and cultures, capoeira

My Challenges:
Organizing my life...

My Areas of Expertise:
Radio, agriculture, human rights, climate justice
