It is no secret, it is just hidden.

I am Nicole. I grew up in a small town in Ontario where inequalities, discrimination, poverty and oppression exist. No this is not a secret, no this does not just exist here, but in every community, all over Canada and all over the world. I want to bring a voice to those people in Canada who grew up in a country where people fail to acknowledge the inequalities around them.

The solutions that Web 2.0 brings to the global women's movement are endless. Earlier this week, my friend shared with me a video of Human Trafficking in Canada. While we see prostituted women or people living on the streets it is not enough to just know these issues exist. People often say 'they chose this' or 'they can get help' but Web 2.0 allows us to speak to these myths or perceptions to help people understand that these are symptoms of inequality.

Web 2.0 allows us to share information about these issues, to brainstorm solutions and to educate friends and family about what they can do and how they can spread the word and ignite the passion for change in others. Web 2.0 is something that allows us to engage others to think critically about the world they live in. What excites me the most about Web 2.0 is the possibility to connect to people all over the world. It will help us understand that every community, every culture and every country has issues that we can all connect with and work towards changing.

Web 2.0 is a way to connect women from all over the world, it is a way to have a collective voice and a tool to address these issues together. It is a way to create a web community of strong women dedicated to social justice and positive change.
