Despite being half the world’s population, women appear in only 26% of all news subjects and sources across broadcast, radio, and print.
Despite advocacy, the gender gap in news media has stubbornly remained unchanged, with just a nine-point improvement over 30 years.
This is an unfortunate reality, and one that contributes to keeping us away from achieving equality.
THIS IS WHY WE ARE HERE
Sheroes Rising is not just a publication, but one that seeks to drive change, inclusion and active women’s agency in society with women empowerment, inclusion in leadership & politics as our key area of focus.
As a women’s rights advocacy organisation headed by women survivors of exclusion and discrimination, we do not just understand the factors that continue to hold women back, but also know that when women are empowered, the whole society benefits.
At Sheroes Rising, we are going to be leveraging on the power of storytelling to drive drive action for change and impact.
But advocacy and storytelling is not cheap, neither is news telling. Hence we need all the support we can get to keep this momentum.
