From Pakistan to Bangladesh, these three World Pulse Featured Changemakers are creating opportunities in ICT, countering gender-based violence, advocating for maternal healthcare and amplifying grassroots leaders.
Every day, changemakers log on to World Pulse to speak out, connect, and power their movements for change. Through their leadership and grassroots initiatives, World Pulse Featured Changemakers Mosfeka Zannat, Adeeba Shah, and Lemona Chanda are shaping a more equitable, sustainable world where everyone can thrive. Here are their stories.
In Bangladesh, Mosfeka Zannat is connecting young tech talent with international opportunities.
Each year, thousands of ICT (information and communications technology) graduates in Bangladesh struggle to find work after they leave the university. Despite their schooling, many lack the connections and guidance needed to enter the workforce. Seeing this untapped potential, Mosfeka Zannat founded the Sombhabona Innovation Hub, an initiative dedicated to bridging the gap between education and employment.
Through training, mentorship, and access to online freelance platforms, Sombhabona helps young professionals turn their skills into careers. “By providing a space where they can connect to global opportunities, we are helping them not only find employment but also become contributors to the global economy,” Mosfeka says. “Empowering these young professionals is a step toward a more resilient and self-sufficient community.”
On World Pulse, Mosfeka has connected with industry leaders and mentors who provide valuable guidance, resources, and opportunities for the young professionals she supports.
"World Pulse connections have played a crucial role in scaling Sombhabona,” Mosfeka says. “These connections have not only opened doors for our ICT graduates, helping them secure meaningful opportunities, but have also allowed us to expand our impact. Through the power of networking and collaboration, we’ve been able to reach more communities, foster innovation, and create lasting change."
Already, Mosfeka’s work is changing lives. Samir, a young ICT graduate, was on the verge of giving up after months of unsuccessfully job searching. With Sombhabona’s support, he gained the skills and confidence to land an international freelance project. Today, he runs his own small freelance business, which employs others from his community.
Mosfeka’s vision is to provide 100,000 young people with career skills and create a future in which no ICT graduate is left behind. She seeks mentors, industry experts, and global partners to continue expanding opportunities for young tech graduates through the Sombhabona Innovation Hub.

Adeeba Shah is creating a platform for women to speak out against gender-based violence in Pakistan.
Growing up in a small town in Pakistan, Adeeba Shah noticed the silence and shame surrounding gender-based violence. Moved by the stories of survivors, including a close friend who was pressured into marriage and isolated for pursuing an education, she founded an initiative dedicated to breaking the silence and giving women a platform to speak up.
“Every woman deserves to live free from fear, and this initiative is a step toward making that a reality,” Adeeba says. “By raising awareness, challenging harmful norms, and providing support, we can create a safer and more equitable society.”
Through A Call to Empower Women and Challenge Gender-Based Violence, Adeeba strives to reach communities across different regions through awareness campaigns, community discussions, and collaborations with organizations focused on women’s rights. Her initiative leverages digital platforms and storytelling to foster safe spaces for survivors to share their experiences and access support.
Adeeba says community participation is key to her initiative’s success of reaching 10 women, changing mindsets, and enabling more women to pursue an education. “We encourage open dialogue through workshops, online discussions, and local meetups,” she says. By engaging educators, activists, and community leaders, Adeeba is building a collective movement that challenges harmful traditions and encourages women to advocate for change.
On World Pulse, Adeeba has built meaningful partnerships and amplified her message, reaching more women who need support and allies to support her initiative. "World Pulse has amplified my voice and mission, turning my efforts into a movement that empowers women to break barriers and reclaim their independence,” Adeeba says.
Since launching her initiative, Adeeba has witnessed an incredible response from women who now feel encouraged to speak out. Many have shared their personal experiences, gaining the courage to stand up for their rights.
Adeeba seeks to connect with activists, educators, NGOs, and digital platforms focusing on women’s rights and gender equality. “Collaborating with experienced individuals and organizations can help expand our reach, improve our resources, and create more impactful initiatives,” she says.

In Bangladesh and globally, Lemona Chanda is amplifying the voices of grassroots changemakers and connecting them to global opportunities.
Denied the right to inherit property due to an archaic colonial-era law in India, Lemona Chanda grew up witnessing domestic violence, social stigma, and a system that failed to protect the vulnerable. She met grassroots activists who were creating change but noticed the immense personal sacrifices they made and that their voices were often overlooked.
Determined to change that, Lemona launched the Global Activists Network to spotlight and support these changemakers. Through social media, partnerships, and community-driven storytelling, Lemona is developing a platform where activists can share their work, learn from one another, and access greater opportunities.
“When a changemaker in a rural village in Bangladesh, India, or Ghana raises their voice, they are speaking out on all our behalf,” she says. “By learning about each other's journeys, we energize ourselves, take inspiration, teach each other, and pull each other up. It is also necessary to have a stage where they can easily present their work and also have a sponsor that promotes the incredible work that they are doing.”
Since its launch, the Global Activists Network has successfully nominated changemakers as speakers at major events and collaborated on sustainability seminars in Africa. GAN has spotlighted the work of about 50 changemakers globally, with more than a hundred they are working to promote. Through its initiatives, GAN has reached out to more than 100,000 people.
Now, Lemona seeks partnerships with organizations that can help fund grants, provide platforms for changemakers, and increase audience engagement.
Being part of World Pulse has opened new doors for Lemona, allowing her to build out her network of changemakers and grassroots organizations. “World Pulse gave me a home and a sisterhood where I was assured irrespective of the magnitude of my work, I mattered, the work mattered and sharing our collective journeys mattered,” Lemona says.
