Mentoring Earth Mothers

I have been frightened for my son ever since he was born. The society into which I gave him birth was in chaos, attempting to re-frame women's rights, human rights, religious perceptions, and the right to refuse to fight in a war in which one didn't believe. My son is grown, with a son and a daughter of his own. Both of them are teenagers, almost ready to seek their own paths in life. I am as as afraid for them as I have always been for my son. We still have not defined where we want to go as a human society or how we intend to get there.

I was born into a society that lived by the rules of colonial imperialism left over from before the United States declared her independence from England. I was also born into a religion that followed Abraham, saying that they were following Jesus as their Christ. This was a religion of dominion through instilling fear of persecution and eternal death. It was in the years in which I came into adulthood that these vestiges of the past rule were challenged, and, in word, overturned.

It is almost half a century since we technically, won the war against our own oppressors, but there are so many who, through fear, are trying to pull us back into our painful past. Chaos can be seen as frightening or as exhilarating. Without death of the old there can be nothing new. We women have the opportunity to help define the new world that is awaiting a direction in which to move humanity.

We are the wombs that bear civilizations and nurse the people of the earth. We can lay down our lives to protect the innocent, including our sacred sons. We are also living longer and healthier lives with choices that we didn't have before birth control and the internet. We are the the new prophets. We must write the predictions for peace on earth, and how this will be achieved.
