Month 3 - Op-ed idea: searching for your views again!

Hi Ladies,

I've been racking my brains to think of an issue that i can write on with passion and knowledge, and i've finally settled on this: the culture of violence that took root in sri lanka during the last 27 years of war has resulted in a dramatic increase in violence against women too.

Now the war is officially over, but there are no signs that abuse of women is going down. Have we reached a point of no return in our culture of violence - is this a legacy of war that we are doomed to inherit, generation after generation? And will this be women's lot in Sri Lanka?

I say No, and i want to use the op-ed to put forward my viewpoint that this is a crucial time to turn the tide on violence - violence of all sorts, but especially the violence against women and children.

Would this make a suitable op-ed subject? It's not something new, as violence against women has been written about over & over.

I would so welcome your feedback.

Hugs to you all,

Manori
