Music for Life

Ever wake up in the morning feeling really inspired to do something? Something that you know you love doing but you don't think it's necessary, a waste of time, or you convince yourself it's not worth your time? Well, this morning, I was trying to go back to sleep and could hear the familiar calling of wanting to sing. I don't know why I put off this seemingly inconsequential activity, but I do, all the time. I always end up thinking oh, it's not perfect, I don't have time, my husband won't want to hear it, etc. But, the reality is, it makes my soul sing. It's soul food for me. It always has been. I think now more than ever we need to do things that feed our soul. Make us feel hope. Make us feel alive. And, singing is one of those activities. It shouldn't be a negotiable one, especially if it fulfills me on a soul level.

I'm covering one of my favorite songs of all time, Enya's "When the Evening Falls." I hope it helps to make you feel inspired, hopeful, and ready to do one of your favorite, soul activities.

These are the lyrics:

When the evening falls

And the daylight is fading

From within me calls

Could it be I am sleeping?

For a moment I stray

Then it holds me completely

Close to home, I cannot say

Close to home, feeling so far away

As I walk the room

There before me a shadow

From another world

Where no other can follow

Carry me to my own

To where I can cross over,

Close to home, I cannot say

Close to home, feeling so far away

Forever searching, never right

I am lost in oceans of night

Forever hoping I can find memories

Those memories I left behind

Even though I leave

Will I go on believing

That this time is real

Am I lost in this feeling?

Like a child passing through

Never knowing the reason

I am home, I know the way

I am home, feeling oh, so far away

This is my short poem about how I feel about music.

Life is a song.

It may not always be long.

However, it can prolong

our lives in so many ways.

It can bring us hope

Even if all we want to do is mope.

Sometimes it's my dope,

if I let it be.

Just remember, whenever you're down,

even if you feel a clown,

never far away, is a ditty...

a hum, a bird, an ocean, or a kitty.

If you do one thing today,

do it with self love, I say.

It will make your soul full.

And, take you out of a lull.
