My letter to you

Hello Pat,

So wonderful to hear about you and your family! I am a Zimbabwean woman, aged 26, who just moved to the United Kingdom last month to do my Masters degree in Development Studies.

This is my first Euroepan winter and I am finding it hard to adapt to the complete darkness by 5 pm each day :(

My passions are writing, speaking and laughing. I love the endless possibilities that life brings with it and feel very blessed to be me. I also love questioning things and opening up new ways of thinking. I also love travel, food and other indulgences of the soul.

I also do love poetry! I wrote this poem early this morning at about 3am. It was bubbling under the surface since last night:

They say a man is no
island
But today this woman
wants to be
suspended on water
floating
haphazardly into
nameless rivers
flowing silent and
separate
and slow;
Severed from the
Continents
Of
Chaos
Sailing callously by.

This is how I sometimes feel when I need to get far from the crowds!

It's hard for me to write a letter of 'love' in a relationship as yet unformed and unshapen, but in time I know that love will abound from our interactions - true love and not the nominal type that I could write about, void of all meaning.

I look forward to that love becoming and growing
