MY PERIOD,MY PRIDE!!

Accepting my menstrual period as a natural part of me has been quite a journey. Initially, I felt abnormal and self-conscious among my peers when my period first started at the age of 12. My aunt had to teach me how to handle it with grace, adding another responsibility to my already busy life. Little did I know that this journey would continue into adulthood.

I vividly recall the embarrassment of potential leaks during my early school days, causing me to withdraw from social situations. Feeling like the worst version of myself during my period made me hesitant to engage with friends and limit my activities. How long could I continue to let my period dictate my life? Why should I miss out on important events or exams because of it?

It took time, but I gradually came to understand that my menstrual cycle is a natural part of being a woman and something to be proud of. It distinguishes me as a girl and I have learned to embrace it as part of my identity.

I now revel in the beauty of my period each month, finding empowerment in honoring this essential aspect of my femininity. I am able to go about my daily life without fear or hesitation, attending school, workshops, and engaging in activities just like anyone else. My period is not a hindrance, but a source of strength and resilience.

To all the young women struggling to navigate their periods, I urge you to embrace yourself fully, including this crucial aspect of your being. Accepting our menstrual cycles is an integral part of accepting ourselves, and it is something to be celebrated. Embrace your femininity, embrace your period, and embrace the beautiful essence of being a woman.
