Mystical "Period"

Why?..why do I have to bleed for 3-5days for no good reason? 

Why did God creat menstruation?  Why?...

So many un answered questions in my tender mind.

Unlike other girls my mom told me about menstruation at a very tender age of 8.

I can't really remember what she said but I can clearly remember what I understood. I understood that from the age of 11 upward a girl  will be urinating  blood for  a period 3-5days every month. During that period the girl needs to use napkin(Sure she said sanitary napkin at that age I took in only napkin) to collect the blood.

Every girl has this period in a month that she urinates blood and uses a napkin(used for babies) to trap this blood.  How on earth can that be possible?

I understood that the \"period\" is really mystical.

Just be \"peeing\" blood? How? Why? That night I dreamt I was urinating blood and unrinted on the bed.

 I was in primary  6 then and  I told my friends at school what I understood from my mom's talk. During break, my friends  who were 11years old or above where scared to urinate becsuse blood can start coming out at \"anytime\". This fright of unrinating blood continued to secondary school before we had a better understanding of what truly menstration is all about and that there is nothing mystical  behind it. 

So I suffered the menstruation stigma not because of lack of information but because of the way it was given.

 Therefore, appropriate strategies should be used to educate teenage girls about menstruation because if education is wrongly given it can mislead or stigmatise the girl child.
