Nadra Almahdi Joins the Team of FemAsia Magazine (UK)
In a new milestone that reflects her expanding international influence, Sudanese journalist and poet Nadra Almahdi has joined the team of FemAsia Magazine, a UK-based media platform that celebrates the storytelling, creativity, and diverse experiences of women — with a strong focus on amplifying voices from underrepresented and marginalized communities.
FemAsia, founded and led by Shameela Yoosuf Ali, is a pioneering publication dedicated to empowering women from minority and displaced backgrounds, challenging stereotypes, and creating a global space for stories that deserve to be heard. The magazine’s mission is to reshape narratives around women by highlighting their strength, creativity, and humanity through authentic storytelling.
Nadra’s inclusion in the FemAsia team comes in recognition of her distinguished career in journalism, peacebuilding, and women’s rights advocacy, as well as her leadership in launching “Noura Initiative – to Combat Violence Against Sudanese Women During War and Exile.” The initiative seeks to document women’s experiences, amplify their voices, and build networks of support for Sudanese women in exile.
She is also the author of the acclaimed spiritual poetry collection
“Al-Haw Al-A‘zab – Poems in Praise of the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)”,
which reflects her deep Sufi-inspired devotion and her belief in the power of beauty and faith as tools for resilience.
Commenting on her new role, Nadra Almahdi said:
> “FemAsia is more than a magazine — it’s a home for women who turn pain into power. I’m honored to be part of a team that believes in storytelling as a force for justice, empathy, and transformation.”
This collaboration marks a significant step in Nadra Almahdi’s journey as a global media voice for Sudanese women, carrying their stories of courage and hope to international platforms, and reshaping how the world perceives women from conflict-affected regions.
