Nadra Al-Mahdi’s Poetry Collection Enters the Competition at the Cairo International Book Fair

Sudanese journalist and poet Nadra Al-Mahdi proudly presents her debut poetry collection,

“Al-Hawa Al-A‘azab” (“The Purest Love”), published by Habi Publishing and Distribution. The collection is a lyrical tribute to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, celebrating the universal values of compassion, beauty, and inner peace inspired by his noble life.

The book blends poetic depth with a humanistic vision, reflecting Al-Mahdi’s unique voice — one that intertwines her journalistic insight with a heartfelt lyrical sensibility. Her verses flow with longing, tenderness, and spiritual serenity, inviting readers to contemplate the essence of mercy, love, and light.

According to Al-Mahdi, “Al-Hawa Al-A‘azab” is “a journey through the paths of divine love, where faith meets beauty, and words become a vessel of peace and illumination.” The collection forms part of her broader creative mission to highlight the richness of Sudanese literature and to share a message of harmony across cultures.

Known for her impactful journalism on women’s rights and humanitarian issues, Nadera Al-Mahdi continues to bridge her advocacy and art through poetry that celebrates the shared human spirit.

She concludes with a verse from her collection:

> Tell of me to the best of Messengers,

With yearning, tenderness, and tears that fall.

With the heart’s fierce longing for the coolness of arrival,

Where vision turns to gardens divine —

A bursting, a shattering of pure delight

The Cairo International Book Fair remains one of the Arab world’s most prominent cultural events, attracting writers, thinkers, and publishers from across the region and beyond.
