Nominating Regina Young

“She opens her arms to the poor, and extends her hands to the needy”, is another proverb of King Solomon describing a woman of incredible worth.

Regina Young  (https://www.worldpulse.com/user/62708/bio) embodies this through her work empowering and caring for people with disabilities. We are all familiar with her sacrificial love and presence.

She is like a community matriarch, to whom people come because they know they will be cared for. Through her updates, it is clear that there is not a need that Regina turns away, often utilizing her own resources to help those in need around her.

Regina's caring and generous spirit is stopping poverty in its strides, both the material poverty through the economic empowerment initiatives such as bead sandal making and training in digital tools for business that also to end the poverty of dis-inclusion by giving voice to women with hearing impairment. This empowerment also tackles the personal poverty as these women, once facing stigma and feeling worthless, see that they are valued, worthy, and have something to offer to their communities and also meet their own needs.

What dignity Regina’s work encompasses, what freedoms she is building, and what is that if not the World Pulse Spirit?

I nominate Regina Young for The World Spirit Award for her advocacy for and empowerment of women and girls living with disabilities.
