Nominating Sally Maforchi Mboumien for a World Pulse Spirit Award

Sally has been with World Pulse since 2016. She has for years spoken out against violence against women and also women being set up to fight each other, through this time of warring factions in her country. Who else has managed to bring peace talks by gathering women together? Somehow she continues to find the strength and determination to create peace.

Cameroon is still at war with men wreaking violent havoc on communities, on women, on children, on each other. It is because of Sally’s reporting to World Pulse and her dedication as an Advanced Change Maker, a Storyteller, an Ambassador, that we are kept up to date on this war that has been going on for years, so that we can be aware of and try to make known her work, in which she has taken lead in forming this peace group of women from both sides. #NWSW, meets across the divide. Sally is relentless in her work in the seemingly impossible to become not only possible but necessary. She is an inspiration of courage, determination and hope.  She continues to lead and build connections among a group of women from both sides of this war.

Recently she was in Canada and I had the tremendous experience of having the chance to meet her, and witness her bringing people in Toronto originally from Cameroon together to further peace. Who else has managed to create safe space for these discussions to happen? She is a leader whose work should be the framework of the UN. Her courage, her strength, her daring, her commitment to peace and her leadership here within World Pulse are all reasons I am thankful for the chance to nominate her for a World Pulse Spirit Award.
