Children in the club
In our rural community, learning foreign languages can be challenging for children. Public schools teach only in our local language "Malagasy", which is important for preserving culture and identity. But I believe that learning other languages early like French, our official language which is widely spoken in our region, and English, the international language is essential, make learning fun, and prepare children for a brighter future.
When I was a child, I didn’t have the opportunity to learn a new language, and I always felt like I was missing out. That’s why I’m especially passionate about giving kids in our community the chance to learn languages early.
To support this, I started a Language Club for kids in the space of our MamynySoa association, a small learning hub where children can explore languages in a joyful, interactive way. We meet every Wednesday afternoon for two hours, as the kids don’t have school at that time, and each session is full of songs, games, storytelling, and conversation in French and English. The goal is simple: to make language learning playful and exciting so that children develop not only skills but also a genuine love for languages.
Our first meeting was a wonderful start. The children were curious, enthusiastic, and full of energy, and I am confident that the group will grow as more kids join in the coming weeks. This photo from our first session captures their smiles, laughter, and the joyful moments we shared.

Teaching young children is not always easy, but it is incredibly rewarding. I see their eyes light up when they learn a new word, their laughter when they play language games, and their pride when they can express themselves in another language. Those moments remind me why early exposure to foreign languages is so valuable it builds confidence, curiosity, and a sense of possibility.
To show my gratitude and motivate them, I give the children a little biscuit before they leave. It’s a small gesture, but it brings smiles and makes our time together feel special. For me, these sessions are not just about teaching, they are about sharing joy, encouragement, and a sense of community.

Even as an adult, I continue to learn French and English. Life is an endless journey of learning, and I want to model that curiosity and persistence for the children. By dedicating my time to them, I hope to plant seeds that will grow into a lifelong love of learning, confidence, and opportunities for the future.
Our Language Club is more than just a place to learn words; it is a space where children feel valued, encouraged, and inspired. Every Wednesday, we gather not only to practice languages but also to share laughter, stories, and small moments of happiness. These are the moments that stay with children and help shape their growth.
Through this initiative, I hope to show that even in a small rural community, children can dream big, learn new things, and feel the joy of discovery. Every song sung, every game played, and every new word learned is a step toward a brighter future and a step toward a world where learning knows no boundaries.
