After analyzing 147 studies on hypertension medication, researchers for the British Medical Journal are making a bold claim: Doctors should stop measuring blood pressure. According to their online report, everyone over 55 (even those without hypertension) should take blood pressure drugs like ACE inhibitors and beta-blockers. Patients could then periodically check their own blood pressure at home and report back to their doctor if they experienced any drug side effects.
