Off topic: When golden children attempt to make scapegoats the bad guys

I’ve seen so many videos on YouTube and TikTok whenever someone throws a tantrum, they’re being a “spoiled brat”. Come to think of it, anyone is quick to label someone who is upset, struggling, or doesn’t confine to societal expectations as a “spoiled brat”, especially if that person is a girl/woman.

But what I really want to talk about is regarding abuse and how public recording can be used against the scapegoat. Like I said, I’ve seen plenty of videos where a golden child would record a scapegoat having a meltdown during the moment of abuse. And I say “golden child” because what I see in these videos and the descriptions, they say how the scapegoat “deserved it”.

For example, a mother is yelling at her teenage daughter accusing her of being a spoiled brat and refusing to get a job and move out. Mind you, the girl’s not even eighteen yet. The daughter responds by angrily screaming and crying, and the mother proceeds to beat her up and pulling her hair. And what did the person behind the camera do? He just stood there and laughed at her while she was being abused. Then he stated that she deserved it.

In another video, a little girl was being yelled at by who seems to be her babysitter, and the girl got in trouble all because she was crying. That was it. Her sister, who was upstairs and recording her the whole time, was laughing at her. The sister in question, as the babysitter mentioned threw an orange at the girl for no reason. The babysitter threatened to call a woman named CeCe (who I think is supposed is the girls’ mother) if the little girl doesn’t go to her room, which I think is fucking bullshit. The comments made everything worse saying the little girl deserved it and one even said “this is why I hate girls” 🤮 another stated “I’m a girl and I hate girly girls”, Jesus fucking Christ, so much misogyny going on!

One more video I want to mention is the one where the mom yells at her teenage daughter after getting caught using her money to buy drugs and KICKS HER OUT OF THE HOUSE. The mom keeps screaming at her daughter “I hate you!” while the drugged daughter replies calmly “I hate you too”. Even the mom admitted that she herself was taking drugs, but she got mad when her daughter did it. Fucking hypocrisy! Meanwhile the person recording the incident stated that the daughter “deserved it”.

What’s even more infuriating is the double standards regarding abuse. It doesn’t matter if you put the word “spoiled brat” in the title or description, the comments will the opposite direction. If the scapegoat is a boy, he is far more sympathized. But if it’s a girl, she’s going to be labeled a spoiled brat and told they “got what they deserved”, even some of the commenters will flat out admit that they hate women, but will immediately deny their sexism the moment you call them out.

I used to find these funny when I was in school, until I learned more and more about child abuse. Nowadays I hate myself for finding them funny in the first place.
