Pad a Girl Initiative seeks to eliminate period poverty by donating pads and educating young women and adolescent girls about menstrual health management. Period poverty in the urban areas of Kenya, especially Nairobi has been on the rise over the years leaving women and adolescent girls vulnerable to sexual exploitation and gender-based violence.
This initiative will hold monthly talks based on menstrual management and hygiene in low-income settlements in Nairobi to educate young women and girls about menstrual products, hygiene practices during the menstrual cycle, and how to dispose of used pads.
Additionally, pads will be donated monthly to young women and girls who attend the monthly talks contributing to the goal of eliminating period poverty.
