Pain to Passion up

I grew up loving to unravel the endless possibilities of paper crafts - gift boxing/wrapping especially. (No wonder I love to give/present gifts)

However, the passion to push the gift wrapping skills faded off into my teenage years - *sighs* -immediate family and few friends thought it was a crazy idea to nurture.

Along the line, I discovered and nurtured my flairs for writing and speaking. (No wonder, I studied English Language/Broadcast Journalism at the University/ Broadcast Academy respectively)

While honing my writing and speaking skills, I volunteered at radio stations, on shows (from Research, to production, especially presentation)

Long story cut short, my faded passion for Crafts was re-ignited while working as a radio show host and volunteering with a couple of NGOs. This was the phase that got me reflecting on the torrents of discouraging and unkind words that faded my passion initially: The immense effects of such words by loved ones. Painful as it was realising the effects of mere words, I didn't dwell on that for too long. Instead, I fuelled my passion and actions drawing from a self-dug well of kind words and ever since made up my mind to share as I grow - on my inherent skills. (No wonder, a few friends now tag me Support System Sister)

Hence, the birth of The Crafters Connect.
A project that seeks to encourage Creatives, celebrate their unique craft skills, promote patronage for their craft works and connect them to a network of likeminds whose main aims are to build sustainable businesses out of their crafting skills.

I've since recorded growing number of confident Craft-Converts - creators and clients Crafts varying from fruit Carving to paper flowers, wood craft, textile designs (tye & dye), etc.

I'm glad the power of kind words and swift actions is contributing immensely to the growth of Craft businesses in my community. And I'm not slowing down on my mission.

Now, I make boxes for sale, teach the art of box making, organise events to promote crafts, write to celebrate creatives (www.thecraftersconnect.net), etc

P.S.
It's amazing how effective words such as "Well done", "Keep it up", "Great job" ...can influence confidence and consistency.
