PERIOD OF DESPAIR IN KENYA

students just recently opened school across the country after flash floods scare that delayed their school opening day and it has come to my attention to learn that the government have stopped issuing free sanitary pads to school by no allocating budget for it for the next financial year. actually this is avery sad situation i don't know what transpired to this conclusion or i don't know if the person in power who came up with this idea of depriving schools funds to get free sanitary towels doesn't know what it feels like to miss class because you got period or doesn't have girls in their family or dont have family of girlfriend to share the period stress . it has not sit well with me because i know what if feels like to stay home every month because you have period situation with nobody to tell or to talk to because of fear of being stigmatized and you can't go to school or attend classes and why?! you don't have sanitary towels .this is the main reason i have been advocating for reusable sanitary towels no one is going to robe you your towels because they one day wake up full of heartlessness decide to deprive schools funds or allocate budget for this initiative. it really hurt me and i have reach out to local government to help me understand why .even though i know nothing will be done i won't stop questioning because most students who were enrolled in this program are those who live under a dollar a day , those real have notes who are helpless and voiceless. it really break my heart that someone in power decide to come up with a conclusion in such critical issue without considering the impact its going to cost to innocent lives that really depend on this free pad programm.i mean our leaders have grown horns and forgotten about what really matters to people in the community we had hopes in them but now they are making heartless decisions to hurt millions who have no voice or someone who can oppose their move because if you do you get kidnapped,you get killed ,your family is victimized. so people end up suffering in silence for fear of being hurt. being a small fish with vision my team and i have decided to donate free reusable sanitary pads to local schools so those those student who were on the free sanitary pads program don't stop coming to school .without education girl child id dumped to early marriage, we wont have learned professionals in the society thats why a girl child have to be well taken care of the the future generation .we don't want to go back to the days when men dominates all the top positions because girls were left behind .with the little tools i have we'll make sure girls get their pads and as we speak we have contacted over 20 schools that we know really needs this reusable pads . as we distribute the reusable sanitary towels we teach them how to wash them take good care of them in the process i also learn that post girls don't know about the reusable pads so awareness is needed. unlike the one time use sanitary pad that is given so much airtime in our media reusable pads is not widely known to the locals . we have really faced so much challenges doing this ! some students reject them others fear touching their own period bloods because of taboos and other mythology they have heard from their roots so its a hard work ,persistence and having a conversation with them that we out here to help when one plan fails we don't quit we go for plan b/ c to get things done. continue putting us in prayers because we have a meeting with the local government about this situation i still don't know if they will schedule time for us but we want to try put some sense on their mind .being on the ground with first hand experience and evidence might change things if they will only give us a minute of their time which is limited and rare . power is temporary they should know that the people they are doing this too are the same people that will take them out of office one day. if they know how hard it is to be a woman you have to carry yourself well during your period and you can't do it if you oozing blood and its rolling down your legs you will want to hide for days before coming out to try rebuild yourself. we live in the 21st century with a lot of innovating ideas on how to do things . period should never stop us from being us ,period should not stop a woman from attending class we will come up with an idea to fix the problem .i'm a reusable sanitary pad ambassador for myself and others and especially now that reusable pads are really needed by many who are left with no option because of a bad decision made by someone in power who can't be reached because he or she think he is above everyone for now without consultation or considering the negative impact he or she going to cost the society.my team and i are here to make a massive difference with the little resources we have , with events will hold to raise funds for this program we will see no girl child miss school because period , we will see no girl soiling her school uniform because of period . girl child has to be empowered, has to be educated , has to be guided so that they will be a living testimony to the future generation .no girl child should be left voiceless because of gender bias or discrimination together we will support each other and grow together as iron women with thick skin always
