On Friday, 21st July, Kirthi Jayakumar @kirthijayakumarconducted a tweetchat creating awareness about the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Against Women at the Workplace (POSH) Act. The chat began by discussing the very basics of what a workplace is and how its definition has expanded over time. It then went on to bring out the differences between sexual harassment and flirtation and why it was important that people are aware of the difference. Kirthi then explained the process of filing a complaint about harassment in the workplace and how the perpetrator could be brought to justice. The chat ended with the participants sharing their thoughts on the discrepancies and gaps in the present day POSH Act and how they could be amended.
