Project to Strengthen Prevention Mechanisms and Holistic Care for Survivors of Sexual Viol

To the people and/or women and girls of NORTH KIVU again at risk of Violence October 10, 2017 VIOLENCE AND DISPLACEMENT IN NORTH KIVU. At least 4,242,000 people are still living in displacement situations in North Kivu, following the instability and insecurity that reigns in the province and which aggravates a chronic situation. Indeed, North Kivu remains prey to violence and conflicts that create an alarming humanitarian situation in several territories with a recurrence of sexual violence and to people and/or women and girls. Stigmatization. Armed groups, militias and communities make the law almost everywhere and communities are often opposed to each other. The military operations launched by the national army to restore order and the awareness-raising and community mediation efforts undertaken by various actors have not yet produced the expected effects. Populations are forced to flee their living environments to seek refuge in more or less stable localities where living conditions remain precarious. North Kivu is a province known for the high incidence of conflict-related sexual violence against individuals and/or women and girls for several years, such as that committed in Walikale in 2010, but it also has a high prevalence of sexual violence. It is also not spared from other forms of violence such as domestic violence against LGBTQI individuals and/or women and girls. The most affected territories are those where armed groups are active and/or where military operations are underway. Thus, GBV, including sexual exploitation of children, to LGBTQI people and/or women and girls, exposure to rape during wood collection, school dropouts linked to early pregnancy, etc., have been reported in the territories of Beni, Butembo and Lubero, Masisi, Nyiragongo, Rutshuru and Walikale. The actors also noted that the share of gender-based violence attributed to civilians or occurring without a direct link to conflict is increasing, we request URGENT FUNDING REQUESTED TO ASSIST 93,150 WOMEN AND GIRLS AT RISK to people and/or women and girls. 1, 242, including more or less 645,840 to LGBTQI people and/or women and girls and women and girls 310,500 to people and/or women and girls and women and girls of childbearing age exposed to sexual violence and to
