Protecting Little Hands and Feet – HFMD Awareness Drive

As a first step of my ongoing mission to build a community-centered general clinic associated with child development center, I would like to share information on common but neglected childhood illnesses—beginning with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD).

This is a simple, accessible guide to help families understand and manage this illness better.

📝 10 Important Things Every Parent Should Know About HFMD🧒🏽👣:

1. It’s a viral illness affecting mainly children under 5.

2. Highly contagious—spreads through saliva, sneezing, diapers, and touching.

3. First signs are fever, sore throat, and low energy.

4. Painful mouth sores and red rashes on hands, feet, and buttocks (in picture given) appear soon after.

5. It is not related to foot-and-mouth disease in animals.

6. Most children recover in 7–10 days without complications.

7. Key treatment is hydration, rest, and fever relief (like paracetamol).

8. Avoid spicy, citrus foods; offer cold drinks to soothe mouth pain.

9. Prevent spread by handwashing, keeping sick kids at home, and cleaning surfaces.

10. There’s no vaccine yet—awareness and hygiene are our best tools.

💬 What I’ve Done:

1. Sharing this guide with parents and teachers

2. Offered teleconsults for parents

This small step is part of a larger dream: to create a safe, inclusive space for child health, neurodevelopment, and maternal empowerment.

🌱 If you're a fellow mother, teacher, or health worker—I'd love to connect, collaborate, and learn from your journey too.

Let’s keep our children safe, informed, and thriving—one community, preventing one illness at a time.
