Raison d'etre

Well we have come a long way since my first attempt to sew a resuable sanitary towel. Thanks to the encouragement of Olutosin Adebowale, a wonderful worldpulse sister, who eagerly accepted my offer of some towels for my beautiful sisters in Ibasa. When I saw the photo of my new friends holding letters which spelled, We love you Sharon, my life changed.

Worldpulse helps many women worldwide at grass roots level, but on this occasion it opened a new door for a middle aged Muslim woman in UK. Chronic clinical depression has been part of my life for 24 years but I am very strong inside and have, by the grace of God/Allah, pushed forward in various endeavours. However, it does sap at one's confidence.

I was so inspired by the work Olutosin is doing to improve the lives of women in Nigeria I felt compelled to help and began a fund raising project - An Auction of Promises. I worked endlessly and in March a wonderful night took place here in Worcester, bringing together people from all different walks of life.

And so, having gained a little confidence, I have now sent pads to India, Nigeria, Rwanda, different locations in Uganda and I am just completing my latest box for Malawi. Along the way I have received contunual support from other Worldpulse sisters, both emotional, and more recently, assistance towards costs of materials and postage for my project.

In two weeks I am attending a meeting in my city to try to set up a Woman's enterprise to encourage other women who, for one reason or another, need the encouragement I received from Olutosin.

So you see, Worldpulse changes lives in many different ways, it has given me a raison d'etre and I will be for ever thankful.
