READINESS

We have set up the altar
It is time to make a sacrifice
Then it was Isaac by Abraham
But today, it is your turn

There is no need for a long journey
Do not carry firewood or matches
There is no need for a rope or ram
Or a strange faith like father Abraham

Sacrifice that gives lasting impression
Sacrifice that builds the faith of children
Sacrifice that gives women strength of purpose
Your sacrifice that breeds breath for lives

We need so precious a sacrifice
Though it costs nothing, not even time
But it could cost us life and living
Your sacrifice of human kindness

Here left not catered for and unsung
Unappreciated and not welcome
A little kindness and reassurance
Gives us strength and hope that it is right

Though left with no choice but
Look back and give a little smile
Rekindles the faith in mankind
That our tomorrow will come
