Rejecting the recommendations

What is their sin when they are burned?

Killed?

Dragged across the land of horror?

What is the sin of their little fingers?

Instead of playing with dolls?

They are severed by grenade fingers?

Woe to them, the children of Sudan,

Displaced in shelters and tents?

Between the UN resolution and the rejection of recommendations,

They are slaughtered thousands of times a minute?

They are butchered on the papers of conferences?

And between condemnation and denunciation,

Their foreheads are seared by the bitterness of insults?

Oh, my heart aches for the frightened little ones, the scattered groups?

No father to protect, no brother to rescue,

No world to heed,

To settle accounts?

We are trapped in a labyrinth of words,

And the corruption of governments,

And the interests of princes and small states?

And there is no one to help the women who are the breadwinners,

To bring shame upon the blackness of the militias?

A group of people,

Carrying goodness,

But they are defeated With curses,

Who will help our children, O Helper?

For the ribs have collapsed,

And the thread of hope has unraveled,

And between promises and hope,

We await the end.
