Send Stories to be Heard at Beijing +25.

story
This is an opportunity to make our work, our priorities, the world we envision, to be known and heard at this upcoming global conference on the status of women. It has been 25 years since this conference has convened. Now is the time for the voices of World Pulse Sisters to be heard. We have until the end of August to submit stories to the women of the United Nations who are working to bring our news forward.

There is also a unique invitation to take part in a number of conversations with UN women during August and September many issues. We have the opportunity to reinforce with these women who will attend the Beijing+25 convention that we are here working together on so many fronts, to protect and empower women and girls, and to reinforce the priorities for action by our Governments who, as members of the UN have committed to Human Rights, and continue to fall short in ending violence toward and suppression of women and girls despite promises made long ago. It is a chance to let the UN women know how strong and determined we are, and how we are now facing and addressing the added burdens that Covid has brought, with little recognition that it is women who are doing most of the unpaid work to keep us all fed, safe and alive.

The first global conference by and about women was held in Mexico in 1975. It gave us all strength that declarations were made to create a global society that was respectful of women. In retrospect it is telling, how promises are still not kept by the UN as a whole. But we continue, and we are making such progress together now.

We can hope that our UN sisters will create a new wave of strength, that we are not waiting another 25, 50, 100 years, millennium, for violence to end. Violence against women and girls, violence through the many ongoing wars, violence toward our planet.
